Old Town Hall Through the Streets of Prague

The story behind the frame

The Old Town Hall tower does not reveal itself all at once from the surrounding streets. Here, it appears in fragments: first the dark roof above the buildings, then the clock face further below, caught between façades and the old street lamps. That partial view is what interested me. Prague’s landmarks often feel different when they are encountered away from the open space of the squares. The tower is still unmistakable, but from this narrow street it belongs to the layers of the city rather than standing apart from them. The lamps seem almost as present as the tower itself, close enough to dominate the view while the centuries-old landmark remains in the distance. For a moment, the familiar symbol of Old Town becomes something discovered through the street around it: not a monument presented in isolation, but a piece of Prague appearing between buildings as the city gradually opens ahead.
