The story behind the frame

In Prague’s Old Town, it is often the smaller details that make the historic streets feel complete. An old lamp can occupy the foreground while stone walls, Gothic windows, tiled roofs and narrow towers continue behind it, each belonging to a different layer of the city. That layering is what interested me here. The lamps are close and almost abstract, their dark shapes interrupting the view rather than simply decorating it. Beyond them, the architecture gradually becomes clearer: weathered stone, the rhythm of tall windows, warm roof tiles and a small tower rising into the pale sky. Nothing in the scene needs to stand alone as the main monument. The character comes from seeing these elements together, accumulated across different distances and different periods. It is a quieter side of historic Prague, where the identity of the Old Town can be found not only in famous landmarks, but in the details that fill the spaces between them.
